How to write a good “About me”
“About me” is the first thing others read and the most important source of matching in Meet. A few well-written sentences bring more conversations than a long CV.
Why it matters so much
From your “About me” bio we work out what you are looking for and what you offer. On your profile we show this in the “Looking for” and “Offers” sections with the label “from “About””, and in Meet we calculate matching from it. What you are both looking for gives the most - 40 out of 100 matching points. A vague bio means weaker matches.
You have up to 1000 characters. We show the first sentence in bold, so it has to say the most important thing. 60 characters are enough for a full “Complete your profile” bar, but a good bio usually has 3 to 6 sentences.
What to write
- Who you are and what you do - in one specific sentence. E.g. “I am building an online store with natural cosmetics.”
- What you are looking for - a co-founder, an investor, clients, employees, a mentor, partners?
- What you can offer - experience, contacts, skills, capital.
- Where you operate - city, country, market or industry.
- One number or specific fact that builds trust, e.g. how many years in the industry, how many clients, what stage your company is at.
Example
“I am building an online store with natural cosmetics and looking for a marketing partner. I have been running e-commerce for 6 years and have my own warehouse and customer service team. I am happy to help with logistics and entering the German market. I am also looking for a seed-stage investor.”
Where to enter it
On mybzz.com
- Open your profile and click the pencil next to “About me” (or “Add” if the section is empty).
- Paste or type the text and click “Save”.
- Also fill in “Your goals” (“What you are looking for”). Only you see it, but it helps with matching.
In the app (Android and iPhone)
- Menu (your photo) → “View Profile” → the pencil next to “About me”.
- Type the text and tap “Save”.
What to avoid
- Buzzwords with no content (“passionate about business, open to collaboration”).
- Your phone number and email address in the bio - that is what the “Contact” section is for.
- Writing in capital letters and long lists of emoji.
- Copying your whole CV - pick what matters to the people you want to meet.
Frequently asked questions
How long should the bio be?
From 60 characters it counts fully towards the profile bar. 3 to 6 specific sentences work best. The limit is 1000 characters.
Can I change my bio whenever I want?
Yes, at any time. We recalculate matches on the fly.
Where did “Looking for” and “Offers” on my profile come from?
We read them from your “About me” bio and your active offers. If something is off, edit your bio.
