Editing and deleting posts and comments
You can correct or delete your post at any time. The same goes for comments. Here is what can and cannot be changed.
How it works
- Only the author can edit and delete a post. There is no time limit.
- In a post you can change the text, visibility, location, background, photos and videos (add new ones or remove them) and tagged people.
- In a poll you can always change the question. You can change the answers only until someone votes.
- After editing, the post shows “(edited)”.
- Only the author edits and deletes a comment. The post author cannot delete someone else's comment.
On the website: editing and deleting a post
- Click the menu (⋯) next to your post.
- Choose “Edit”, make your changes and click “Update Post”.
- To delete, choose “Delete” and confirm.
In the app: editing and deleting a post
- Tap the menu (⋯) next to your post.
- Choose “Edit”, change the content and save.
- To delete, choose “Delete” and confirm “Are you sure you want to delete this post?”.
Note: Deleting a post cannot be undone. The post will disappear from the feed and from your profile.
Comments
- A comment can have up to 1000 characters.
- You reply to a comment with the “Reply” button.
- You can correct or delete your comment from the menu next to it. When deleting you confirm “Are you sure you want to delete this comment?”.
What is not available
- Hiding other people's posts and saving posts for later.
- Reporting a single post. If someone posts something inappropriate, block this person or report their profile from the conversation.
Tip: Instead of deleting a post with a typo, fix it with “Edit” - you will keep the boosts and comments.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete another person's comment under my post?
No. Only its author deletes a comment. If someone is harassing you, block them - their content will stop showing for you.
Can I change the answers in a poll?
Only until someone votes. You can always change the question.
Will anyone see what I changed?
Others only see the “(edited)” label, without the previous version.
Will tagged people get a notification again after editing?
No. Each tag notifies only once. Only a person you add now with @ will get a notification.
Can I change the visibility of a post that is already published?
Yes. In “Edit” choose a different visibility and save the changes.
