Public or private event

The “Public” / “Private” switch mainly decides who sees the list of attendees. Check exactly what it changes before you set it.

How it works

You will find the switch in the event form, in the “Event options” section. By default an event is “Public”.

  • Public - the list of attendees is visible to others, and the event also appears in the activity on your profile, in search engine results and in subscribed city and country calendars.
  • Private - only the organiser (and co-organisers) see the list of attendees. The event does not go into the activity on your profile, search engine results or subscribed calendars.
Note: A private event is not hidden. It is still visible in the event list and on the map on Mybzz, and anyone can sign up for it. If you want to decide who comes, also turn on “Require approval”.

How to set the visibility

On mybzz.com

  1. When creating: in “Event options” click the “Public” switch to change it to “Private”.
  2. For an existing event: “Manage Event” → “Settings” → “Edit Event”, change the switch and click “Update event”.

In the app (Android and iPhone)

  1. In the event creation or edit form switch the visibility from public to private.
  2. Save the event.

When to choose private

  • When guests do not want others to see that they are coming (e.g. an investor meeting or a closed industry group).
  • Combine it with “Require approval” and “Capacity” if the event is meant to be small.

Frequently asked questions

Is a private event visible in the Mybzz search?

Yes. Privacy concerns the list of attendees and places outside Mybzz (profile, search engines, calendars), not the list of events on Mybzz.

Can guests of a private event see each other?

No. Only the organiser sees the list of attendees.
